Yesterday Annie was on the phone with my Mom, and was telling her all about the "nooner shakes" or was it "lunar skates?" Whatever it was, my Mom and I were at a complete loss as to what she was saying. And, per usual, when there's something I don't understand, Annie uses it ALL day long, starting at me expectantly, like, "It's SO obvious Mom!"
Later though, while making sugar cookies, Annie looked at me with complete focus and deep intent, like she was willing me to understand this one phrase, and repeated it, "Unar Sates!"
I then flashed back to playing with her Fifty States puzzle earlier, right before her conversation with Grandma. United States!!!! But of course! What dummy thought she was saying "nooner shakes?!" It's so obvious.
