This day in Madrid was my favorite there -- the worst of the jet lag was through, we'd figured out the bus, and we got to go see so much. The Royal Palace was incredible. You can only take pictures in the first few rooms, so we don't have many from inside, but it was just so gorgeous. Ellie happily asked security guards and others for more information about different rooms, and they loved talking to her.
After that we headed next door to the Cathedral, and then next to that the crypts.
Then we got on the bus to go explore the City -- my kids were fascinated by the graffiti, and were anxious to find out first gluten free churros. It took a couple false starts, but we eventually found the place, and the kids were super happy about it!
From here, we'd decided Greg and Annie were going to go to the Madrid LDS Temple, and the rest of us were going to head to the Egyptian Temple that had been moved to Madrid (Templo de Debod -- but it turned out that the Madrid LDS Temple closed at 2PM that day, so after a bunch of time spent changing into dress clothes, then back out, we all headed back to the bus to get to Templo de Debod. Except our bus didn't come. Forever. Then we eventually just walked the mile plus, getting there right after it closed, but they took pity on us and let us through it (along with other late tourists). Fortunately, the bus DID come to this spot, so we didn't have to walk the three miles back to the apartment :-)
