Two Weeks

Owen is two weeks old today.  I can't believe how quickly this has gone (and that Greg goes back to work on Monday, eep!)
And I can't believe how well it's gone.  Well, the kids have been crazy (whiny, fighting, moody and grumpy more often that we're used to, but it's understandable -- and hopefully temporary), but Owen's been pretty near angelic.  (Baby's really do SLEEP all freaking day.  I mean, he opens his eyes sometimes, and he fusses loudly sometimes when we're all trying to sleep, and his awake time is stretching out to actual pieces of time that are measurable . . . but I've never seen a baby sleep so much.)  He did have one 1-hour stretch of crying the other night, while Greg was gone at meetings, where I had to bust out all the old tricks -- white noise, side lying, bouncing, rocking, swaddling, binkie, etc . . . and it freaked me out in a colic-PTSD way, but that's only happened once.  Personally, I can't believe how good I've felt.  Physically, the recovery has gone really well.  I mean, there are days I feel a little like I was hit by a truck, but for the most part, I feel amazing.  A little sore and wary of my bouncing 18 month old who likes to throw his full weight or various limbs at my incision, but pretty darn good.  Emotionally, I have never felt quite so well after a birth.  I've been lucky that I've never dealt with any real postpartum emotional issues, but I've been weepy here and there after a baby . . . this time, I have not cried even once since I had Owen.  Not once.  And considering how weepy I was when he was breech and things were up in the air with how we would deliver, that's amazing to me that I've been so emotionally stable since the birth. :-)   I did find it a bit ironic that I was asked on Wednesday by my Midwife how nursing was going, that I happily reported that things were going amazing and I hadn't had any pain at all . . . then I woke up next morning with pain so intense I can barely breathe the first minute or so every time he latches on and the cracks and bleeding and pain are pretty freaking intense.  Of course.  Can't wait for this part to be over!
For one of of my first solo outings, Owen, Annie and I went out yesterday and took Owen to get his two week pictures done.  He was an awfully cooperative little baby, the photographer commented that he was able to do 'level 10 baby photography' with putting Owen in whatever position and poses he wanted to.  I think they turned out pretty cute . . .

More Pictures

I know I've already posted a bunch of the photos from our photo shoot with Gianne . . . but here were some more that I liked that haven't been posted yet (with one or two possible exceptions -- I tried to go with all 'first time on the blog' pictures, but I didn't completely double check 'em to last posts, who there could've been some that slipped through a second time . . . )

Isaac's Photo Shoot

Remember back when Isaac was two and a half weeks old and had his first professional photo shoot with someone who not only owns a nice camera, but knows how to work miracles with it? (Hi Gianne!)

Well, now we have the CD and here's some of our favorites:

In other news, Isaac's already in size 2 diapers. That happened fast. I returned two boxes of size 1's to Target today. He's getting so big!

Comparisons

I took some picture of Isaac workin' on tummy time on his Boppy this morning.
Once I uploaded them, I couldn't help but feel all nostalgic for similar pictures taken of the girls . . . so I'm putting some of each of the kids on the Boppy around this age, just for comparison sake :-)

Isaac first -- you can tell it's him 'cause he's wearing blue. And has the bluest eyes. And the narrowest face.

Ellie -- this first one isn't on the Boppy, but it's the same age as Isaac is now. I forgot how quickly she just plumped up! She didn't weigh anywhere near what Isaac does, but she was a lot shorter, so all her weight was in her cheeks. :-)
Ellie on the Boppy, about three weeks older than Isaac is now though.

Here's Annie right around the same age as Isaac is now.
You can tell it's her 'cause of the bald top of her head, with the cool monk like hair around the back. She had the funniest looking hair there for awhile.

These pictures made me think a few things:
1.) My children have very little hair at this age.
2.) I'd always thought of Isaac as looking more like Ellie (and he did at birth), but these pictures looked more like Annie to me. But a lot of that, I'm sure, is the sheer plumpedness of Ellie in those pictures.
3.) My girls look downright lazy on the Boppy -- they're both slumped over like, "Dang, the sheer weight of our heads is getting us down . . ." Of course, they did both have larger heads than their brother. :-)
