Thursday Annie was officially done (and has a whole four weeks of summer 'til she's back in school again.) Annie's loved Kindergarten, mostly for the social aspects, I think. She's an amazing reader, and we can't wait to see how learning a second language goes this coming school year in Spanish Dual Immersion!
Annie at the beginning of the school year, then at the end. She grew! |
Wednesday was her end of year party, that I got to go help out at and get some pictures . . . the kids had fun playing the water games, and I loved watching Annie interact with her classmates.
Greg's Grandma Verla passed away at the end of last month, and this was an awesome picture taken of the family all gathered together the day before her funeral. Almost everyone was able to make it! |
And last, but not least, I had fun playing with my hair the other day. I don't think I've busted out a curling iron in years . . .
Oh wait, one more last, but not least, item of business!
Since this is all over the place anyway, might as well add my last few (several) facebook updates for journaling purposes . . . 'cause that's sadly the most complete accounting of my life at this point . . .
June 28th:
Annie, "Mom, when I save up a million dollars, can I get a cell phone?"
Why, yes. Yes, you can.
Later she asked me how old she had to be to get a phone -- I told her I wasn't sure, but six years old was too young to even be having the discussion! :-)
June 26th:
Isaac had a blow out diaper. Before I realized it, he sat on my CLEAN clothes pile, then SLID down the carpeted stairs on his butt, then came and SAT on my couch. I lead a very glamorous life.
I was SO annoyed this morning by just HOW LONG it was taking for my Nutrimill to grind wheat into more flour so I could finish making bread . . . then I suddenly realized that a machine was half way across the room MAGICALLY turning wheat into fine flour without ANY EFFORT on my part. Um, first world problem, Hilary.
June 24th:
Cutest thing ever -- Isaac is still not asleep, so Greg just talked to him about being quiet, not bugging his sisters, and going to sleep. "So, be quiet, okay Bug?" "Okay, be quiet. It a promise." Seriously, my one year old keeps repeating, "It a promise" as Greg is carrying him back to bed and it's the sweetest thing!
June 19th:
Isaac is holding up magnetic letters and showing them to Owen, "It's a M, Owen, a M . . . Mmmmom, M." Um, seriously -- if the one year old will teach his little brother his letters, that just frees up more time for me to spend on facebook ;-P If only I could teach him to unload the dishwasher and change his own diapers, then my life would be all reading and bon bons. :-)
Isaac just handed me the remote and said, "Here Mom, this for making Veggie Tales." "Do you want me to turn on Veggie Tales?" "Yeah, this 'mote for making Veggie Tales." Interesting analysis of remotes . . .
June 18th:
Seriously, Comcast?! I am trying to call and cancel our basic cable, and I was disconnected twice. So on the third try I indicated that I wanted to upgrade my service and I got right through to an operator. And then I cancelled my service. Mwah ha ha ha :-)
Isaac started crying in the other room. "Ellie?" I called, "What are you doing to your brother."
"Nothing! I just kissed him."
"No, what were you doing that made him cry?"
"Oh, that? I accidently hit him." Then I hear her whispering to Isaac, "Sheesh, you hit me too. I only just hit you like 8 times . . . "
June 17th:
Sitting in the Mother's Room at Church nursing the baby, and all I can hear is Isaac screaming in the quiet chapel through the speaker . . . the joys of toddler-hood. (All I could think the whole time was, "Take him out, Greg. Take him out! Take him out! I can hear the actual words he is screaming through the intercom, it's probably time to TAKE HIM OUT!") :-)
June 14th:
Ellie insisting Dad get her dressed up before they cook together:
June 9th:
Isaac pictures taken with Greg's phone:
