We headed out for camping right across the border in Nevada on July 23rd (technically, our ten year anniversary). We went with my parents that Wednesday to set up camp, as most of the rest of the family would be coming in the next couple days. The kids were in HEAVEN. There was a gorgeous little stream that was just right, that flowed through our camp -- it was big enough to explore and cross and play in, but not rushing or deep enough to worry about even the youngest kids. We did a couple small hikes that first day. On the second one, Isaac moaned, "Why do we have to spend so much time in nature?" Although, by Day 3 he'd warmed up to hiking and nature significantly more. Though on the way home, he did ask if our next vacation could be in a hotel. Ellie on the other hand cried, and cried hard, when it was time to leave. She'd spent the last four days musing how amazing it would be if we could live there all the time, or at least have the same views and streams and trees right in our backyard.
These pictures were from a small hike back behind the Lehman's Cave visitors center.
And these gorgeous views are from our stream, directly next to our 'kitchen area' in our camping spot.
