Isaac is just the sweetest and most sensitive little thing -- immediately after throwing up again this morning, he turned and looked up at me and said, "Mom, I really, really hope you don't end up throwing up too, just because you cuddled with me and took care of me when I was sick . . . "

Awww, my poor sick boy! Headaches and fevers, and he's spent half the day sleeping. (His dad is fine, but was happy for he excuse to nap on a Sunday afternoon). He just woke up from a four hour nap, and I gave him some ibuprofen -- if it kicks in before he falls asleep again, I'm a tad bit worried he's not going to want to fall asleep until midnight

I hope he feels better quickly -- and that he's the last one to get sick!

"Mom, I'm trying to remember who goes first. Hmmmm. Let's see . . . I think the rules say . . . Hmmm, let's see . . . Oh that's right, I remember. The rules say when the names are mom and Owen, Owens always go first."
Sounds about right.
Also, does anyone else stack the deck with all of the early candy cards at the front, so you're not 2/3rds of the way through he game someone gets sent back to gingerbread and the game practically starts over . . . Or is that just me?

With Ellie's baptism coming up in a little over a month, it was time to get some new pictures of the kids (and some of Ellie in her new dress). Owen was a totally adorable goof ball, who both complicated and made the shoot more difficult. He randomly popped into other people's individual shots, dragged a chair in front of a wall and demanded his picture be taken on it, and at some point had to be taken to another part of the studio until his presence was needed again :-)

Somebody tell my nine year old to please stop growing up so fast!

So, I was almost asleep, when I heard some clattering from the girls' room. A half asleep (or more than half) Annie stumbled out of the room, and started walking down the stairs. I called after her and asked her where she was going. She didn't know, and was not really responding. I had her come in with me, where I cuddled with her and tried to see if I could figure out what was going on in her sleepy little head, but to no avail. Eventually, I got her back into her own bedroom, never to solve the mostly-asleep-walking-Annie adventure. But, I did see this little note she made for herself on her hand (at apparently 9:54PM, so someone wasn't asleep when she was supposed to be) -- and it made me smile. Future Annie is lucky to have someone as supportive as 9:54PM Annie

April 10th -- Happy Siblings Day!

I had such a great day at the School today getting to help out with Battle of the Books -- Annie's team did amazing, and came in second (by only one point!) to another awesome team from her class. These kids just amaze me -- the three finalist teams were filled with just absolutely incredible kids that Annie's gotten to know really well in the last several years in the Dual Immersion program -- it makes me feel so grateful that her life and days are so full of so many fun, hardworking, gifted, uniquely talented, bright, friendly, awesome kids! It was so impressive to see all 20 teams competing in the Battle of the Books, every team had prepared and worked hard and it showed -- what exceptional kids!

The kids had such a great day with their Grandparents! We got to facetime with Aunt Andrea, Isaac and Ellie played cards with Grandpa, then Grandma and Grandpa took us out to lunch, spoiled the kids with an awesome Easter Egg hunt, and we sat around and visited for a long time while the kids decorated their visors, colored, played, ate Grandpa's special gluten free cookies which included surprise jelly beans this time, and debated the edibility of peeps and black licorice.

Ellie, "Mom, I need a new camera." "Why do you need a new camera?" "The memory is full, and it won't take any more pictures -- I deleted a bunch, but I can only take like 10 more before I'm out again." "Sweetheart, we can just download the photos off your memory card, and then you'll have room again, we don't need a whole new camera." "Maybe we should just get one, to be on the safe side . . . "

I came home tonight to find Ellie had set up yet another Leprechaun trap out in our front yard. Except this time, I think she had second thoughts about her trap. As you might be able to see, there is a hidden hole in the lid of the box, with dangling 'gold' as bait, and a sign that says 'free gold'. But, it seems she had an attack of conscience, as she added a note, and a warning of 'Don't go in!' to the hole itself. There is also a nice soft bed made inside the box, in case he can't read.
