That'll Be $15 . . .

It's a bit of a milestone.
Following in the steps of his sister Ellie, Isaac psyched me out.  I really thought he might have an ear infection.  There was crappy sleeping, irritability and grumpiness.  Toss in a little ear tugging, and I thought I knew what this was.  So, we braved the storm, loaded up the kids in the bone-chilling wind and snow, and trekked to the nearby hospital to see our doctor.  Where for the bargain price of $15, she was able to inform me that his ears look perfect, his throat and nose look perfect . . . he's just grumpy.  And he may possibly be teething.
Greg likes to say my "Mom-fu" was strong with Annie -- I ALWAYS knew when that kid had an ear infection.  We'd show up at the doctor's office, and I'd be all, "She has a ear infection."  They'd say, "Oh really? Is she running a fever?  Has she been pulling on her ears?"  "Nope," I'd replied, "She didn't want to take her nap and she's a bit grumpy."  They'd look at me funny, then check her ears and lo and behold, double ear infections.  Every time.  (Of course, it wasn't that hard of a prediction -- the kid had ear infections like 8 times by 10 months old -- so, she pretty much always had one.)  With Ellie though, I can't tell you how many time I brought her in to the doctor's, 100% CONVINCED she had a raging ear infection.  And she didn't.   At least not when I thought she did.  Other times we'd go in for a well child check up and they'd be all, "Oh wow, she has a double ear infection!" and look at me kinda accusingly (at least that's how it was in my  head.)  I was HORRIBLE at figuring out when she had ear infections.  Which brings us to Isaac.  All week he's been grumpy.  Last night he woke up EVERY. TWO. HOURS.  It had to be an ear infection, right?  He even pulled on his ear yesterday.  So, I got us worked into our doctor's schedule, forked over my co-pay, and was told that he's perfectly healthy.  Apparently I'm lacking "Mom-fu" with this one too . . . .

Dang it.  This kid is gonna cost us in co-pays . . .
